Proper Preparation Can Make All the Difference in Exterior Painting
When it comes to the exterior painting process, proper preparation makes all the difference. While it might be tempting to try and DIY this project by yourself, you may end up frustrated, hurt, and disappointed with your final product. If you lack experience or the right tools, it’s best to hire a professional who knows their stuff; including the importance of proper preparation before an exterior project. Read more about our Exterior Painting Process below:
1. Thoroughly wash the exterior
Before beginning any paint project, it is important to make sure you start with a clean slate. Exterior painting is no different. A clean surface will allow maximum adhesion of the paint and a smoother, longer lasting finish. The Paint Positive team uses a power washer with environmentally and pet friendly detergent. We also protect any shubbery/plants surrounding the home.
2. Remove old, flaking paint
When it comes to painting the exterior of your home, you want as smooth of a surface as possible. While it may be time consuming, you can’t afford to skip this step. The professionals at Paint Positive hand scrape and power sand to ensure a smooth, ready to paint finish.
3. Finish any necessary repairs/apply caulk
After washing, repair any rotted or damaged areas before painting. Paint Positive fills and seals all cracks with top of the line caulk. We are also able to make minor carpentry repairs as needed.
