We are rapidly approaching the new year, and with it comes new styles and new trends. Sherwin Williams has officially picked out their color of the year for 2020 and we think you will be deeply impressed. Naval SW 6244 is a rich navy blue that will really make a splash this year. Here are some good ways to implement this bold color into your home while it’s the height of fashion.

Gold and Navy are always a very strong color combination. This look will also be very “in” for the new 20s, as it inspires that idea of art deco coming back into style after a long century. Try painting a room navy and using gold as an accent for pieces of furniture, mirrors, paintings, and trim. This look will really make a room pop but be sure that the room has plenty of adequate lighting as navy can be heavy in a room that is naturally dark already.

You can also try Naval as an accent wall in an otherwise boring room. Navy looks great with neutrals, such as white, gray, and beige. It’s a strong statement that adds a lot of personality to a space that you don’t want to overwhelm by painting the whole area. One navy accent wall surrounded by three other white walls also doesn’t make the room seem too dark, so this is a safe bet for spaces with less natural light.

Navy and lime green are a fun, unexpected color combination that you might not see many other places. You may not love the idea of painting the whole room either color but you could try adding some accents in both colors to keep things interesting.

Pairing Naval with coral is another interesting way to mix things up. If you paint the room coral, it will have lots of bright energy and you can tone things down with Naval as a dark contrast to the loudness of your main color. Navy trim is a great addition to your coral bedroom.

Naval is versatile and interesting so don’t be afraid to experiment!
